Welcome to the Stanhill Village Residents Association [SVRA].

We were established in January 2009 following a successful three year campaign to prevent Barratts Homes building an unsuitable housing development in the village.

The campaign encouraged local residents to come together and continue to actively support the interest of this historic and highly attractive. The best way of achieving this was  through a residents association, supported by the local council but most importantly by villagers themselves.

Please explore the site, leave a comment or find out how you can get involved.

Welcome to the web site of Stanhill Village Residents Association! Stanhill Village is an historic village with a strong community spirit. The Residents Association was formed after the residents' success in beating off an unwelcome development by Barratt Homes. Since then we have worked closely with the local council in addressing traffic concerns, planning issues, obtaining hanging baskets and flower towers for the Memorial Garden, bulb planting, getting a village notice board and cleaning up Kemp Delf.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

The latest AGM was held on 8 March 2012 and the minutes are published elsewhere on the website. A good deal of progress was reported including an offer of money by the local council for new village signs, an application for funding to begin the Heritage project and an announcement that the village is to have its very own permanent flag pole - also donated by the council - erected in the Memorial Gardens to celebrate Diamond Jubilee Year. The village is also receiving lobbying support from County Councillor Britcliffe for the establishment of a 20 mph zone along the main road.

The flower towers and hanging baskets will also feature again this summer as will a Best Flower Tub and a Highest Sunflower competition. Meanwhile Kemp Delf, following various clean up operations, is to become an official site for climbing associations.

The list of village volunteers is also growing and residents are welcome to add to it through this website.
